What is Campfire?
Campfire began as a space for worship leaders and musicians to feel refreshed and give them space to worship besides being on the stage. This has since extended to any young adult who wants a space to encounter Jesus and be in community with other young believers. That feeling you get at a church camp where the Holy Spirit feels closer and the bond between us feels stronger — that’s what we aim to bring with each event.
Campfire is a Protestant, Christ-centered ministry, partnering with local churches to host our events. Anyone from 18 to 35 years of age is welcome to attend, regardless of denomination or church background (or lack thereof).
Our events vary with Worship Nights that typically include one or more of questions and discussion, communion or a short message. Once or twice a year we also have a Social. This is the best way to invite those new to faith.
Events run on the last Monday night of the month.
Vision
Our vision is for anyone who sets foot in the room to meet and get connected with someone, and for them to have their cup filled and experience true rest at the feet of Jesus. We create this space to empower faith in young people, to fan the flame through prayer, worship and community.
Campfire is not a replacement for the local church, but rather a complementary ministry to unite young believers, and we want to see our community connect with local churches and see them and their young adult ministries grow.
We look forward to the day where there are multiple Campfires, expanding our community beyond the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Values
Belonging
Campfire is a place for people to belong, united under the name of Christ. Regardless of your stage of faith, denomination, opinions or personality, we hold this space for everyone to be accepted. At Campfire, we have a culture where you can fit right in, approach anyone and be welcomed. We also serve as a great place to go if you are looking to find a home church or checking out faith.
Encounter
Worshiping and encountering Jesus is the basis of Campfire. Since its conception, it has been a space for people to come and rest in God’s presence. It is a place to ignite and build faith together in a loving community and spur each other on in our walk. Every event is prepared and conducted with a heart of pure offering, led by the Holy Spirit, giving glory to God in every step.
Safety
Campfire is a space to feel safe and respected, both at and outside of our events. Safety is taken very seriously and it is well monitored by the team and we encourage anyone to report anything they suspect to be unsafe or disrespectful. We strictly do not allow anyone school-aged (under 18) to attend. We allow for people opt out of photos and other media by request, and respect their online and offline presence.
Authenticity
At Campfire, we are real about life. We value having a place where we can share our wins, losses, and admit when our worship isn’t quite as polished this month. There is no judgement here. We strive to be consistent and always show up, regardless of the number of attendees. Similarly, we value honesty and transparency about our operations. We wish to be fully accountable and value any questions and concerns.
Service
Our team is made up of servant-hearted volunteers who joyfully sacrifice their time to create this space and steward our community. We love to be hospitable and make a warm, welcoming environment, because we love our fellow image-bearers.
